Case Growth Likely for Most States, a Glimmer of Hope for a Few
The HealthWeather Briefing aggregates insights from Kinsa's network of smart thermometers and shares where we expect to see changes in COVID case counts and trajectories. Get your insights at a glance.
Our models use a combination of reported COVID data and our smart thermometer signals. We often see a dip in usage of our thermometers during holidays in addition to some states experiencing gaps in reporting COVID-19 cases. We are only reporting changes where thermometer use was strong, although we still expect some impact to the precision of our forecasts. We will continue to monitor for the impact of holiday travel on the spread of COVID-19.
We predict rapid case increases in Georgia, Nevada and Delaware. Both Delaware and Nevada announced additional precautionary measures at the end of November that may dampen this rise.
Cases are predicted to decrease in Michigan and Missouri. Michigan instituted a new emergency order on November 15 while Missouri extended their state of emergency on November 19.
The risk remains high across the country and the impact of holiday travel is not yet visible
